 An introduction to TEI for critical editions

  • an introduction to EVT

  • discussion of Critical Apparatus elements in EVT

  • EVT installation and configuration

 

Afternoon 15-18

 Training on proposed texts starts

  • showing in first person how to encode a few lines of text, configure EVT, then load the edition

  • each participant works either on one of the example documents or on his own edition texts

  • answering participants' questions online in public and/or private chat

 Roberto Rosselli Del Turco is an Assistant Professor at the Università degli studi di Torino, where he teaches Germanic Philology, Old English language and literature, and Digital Philology; he also teaches Digital Philology at the University of Siena (Master Course in Electronic Edition). He is the editor of the Digital Vercelli Book (http://vbd.humnet.unipi.it/), an ongoing project that aims at providing a full edition of this important manuscript. To further the DVB project he created Edition Visualization Technology (EVT), a software tool to navigate and visualize digital editions which is currently developed at the University of Pisa (http://evt.labcd.unipi.it/) and used by many other scholars (see f.i. the Codice Pelavicino Digitale http://pelavicino.labcd.unipi.it/). He is also co-director of the Visionary Cross project (http://www.visionarycross.org/), an international project aiming at producing an advanced multimedia edition of key Anglo-Saxon texts and monuments.
